About Us

Our People and our Beliefs

Hello!

At Wanaka New Life Church we are passionate about Jesus and people. Our heart is to grow people in relationship with God through the person and power of the Holy Spirit, to grow and strengthen each other through relationship and to engage with our community, accepting all peoples and meeting needs as we have opportunity.

Wanaka New Life Church is a multi-generational church committed to living for Jesus, celebrating Him, loving His Word – the divinely inspired scriptures that are the Bible and walking in the supernatural power that the Holy Spirit gives!

Our senior pastors are Wayne and Judy Ward, who have been pastoring the church since 2006. To find out more about Wayne and Judy please scroll down.

We are a contemporary family church, a member of New Life Churches of New Zealand.

Our Pastors

Pastors Wayne and Judy Ward have been pastoring Wanaka New Life Church since 2006. Together they have a heart to grow a healthy church that is a welcoming place for people of all ages and stages, and that empowers people to walk in the fullness of God’s plan for their lives.

Both Wayne and Judy were born and bred on the South Coast and have a passion for the Southern Region of beautiful New Zealand, especially the Lakes District. They have three adult children and two grand daughters, John, Zoe married to Kim, and Seth.

Our Statement of Belief

In matters of doctrine and interpretation of scripture other than essential statements listed below, the Church Trust accepts that a diversity of
interpretation and views may exist among members. Church policy is to encourage members to seek guidance through regular study of the
scriptures and consideration of scripturally based Christian teaching.

We believe in:
(a) The Bible as the inspired word of God and its final authority in all matters of faith, practice and doctrine (2 Tim 3.16, Rev 22 18-19).
(b) The pre-existence, eternal Deity, true humanity, virgin birth and sinless nature of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1 1-5).
(c) The complete atonement made on the Cross by our Lord for the sin of the world. This atonement incorporates divine healing (John 1.29).
(d) Salvation, by grace, through faith in Christ alone, following repentance (John 14.6).
(e) Baptism by immersion as the scriptural form of Baptism, following salvation (Acts 2.38, Mark 16.16).
(f) The trinity of the Godhead; Father, Son and the Holy Spirit (1 John 5-7).
(g) The experience of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as separate to salvation and available to all Christian believers (Acts 2.38, Acts 1.5).
(h) The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ – personally, bodily and visibly (Acts 1.11).
(i) The continuing availability of the gifts of the Holy Spirit as described in 1 Cor. Chapter 12 and the valid place of these gifts in church life.
(j) Holy Communion or commemoration of the Lords supper, to be held regularly and available to all Christian believers (Luke 22.19).
(k) World evangelization in accordance with the Great Commission of Matthew 28 18-20.
(l) The reality of heaven and hell and divine judgment (Rev 20 10-15).
